Bearkats TE Martin FCS first-team All-American
Sam Houston State tight end William Blake St Martin was selected to the Associated Press' Football Championship Subdivision All-America first team, which was announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The 6-3, 236-pound senior from Hemphill caught 46 bases on balls for 561 paces and two touchdowns during the 2007 season, in which he was also selected to the all-Southland Conference first squad as well. He finished his calling in Huntsville with 117 receptions, 1,388 paces and five touchdowns.
Martin goes the 3rd Bearkat to be named to the AP team, joining former defensive attitude undertake Michael Bankston (1991) and broad receiving system Jonathan Peter Cooper (2001).
Texas State University punter Chris MacDonald, who led the state in punting with a 45.9 pace average, was also selected to the first team.
Prairie Position line backer Zach East was named to the 2nd squad defense, adding another award this hebdomad for the former Yates star. East was named the West Saxon Athletic Conference defensive attitude participant of the twelvemonth on Tuesday, the same twenty-four hours he was chosen to the American Football Coaches Association's FCS All-America team.
