Penn State's Paterno wants college football playoff

Penn State manager Joe Paterno called the logical thinking against a college football game playoff "bogus," though he didn't sound too confident 1 would be adopted while he was coaching.

"I'm only going to be a caput manager another 10 or 15 years, and I don't believe it will go on by then," Paterno said.

Joe Pa's playoff support was more than than a you-kids-get-off-my-lawn rant. There have got been four seasons — 1968, 1969, 1973 and 1994 — when Paterno have had an undefeated squad that was not awarded a national title.

And, high Marks for an 81-year-old guy using the word, "bogus." Jeff Spicoli would be proud.

Ga. House passes resolution urging NCAA to adopt college football playoff system

: The Empire State Of The South House voted 151-9 Friday in favour of a declaration urging the NCAA to make a playoff system for college football.

"The lone major sporting event without a playoff system to place its true title-holder that I cognize of is NCAA Division 1 football," said state Rep. Josiah Quincy Murphy, D-Augusta.

Georgia was ranked 4th in the B.C.s entering the last hebdomad of the season, behind Missouri, Occident Old Dominion and Buckeye State State. When Show Me State and Occident Old Dominion lost, Empire State Of The South did not lift to 2nd behind Buckeye State State but dropped to 5th in the BCS. Southeastern Conference title-holder LSU vaulted from 7th to second.

The Bulldogs went on to mob previously undefeated Aloha State 41-10 in the Sugar Bowl.

The resolution, which now travels to the Senate, names the B.C.s system "the top letdown of the 2007 college football game season." Today in Sports

"The lone sensible manner to find a national title-holder in any athletics is to develop a playoff system that lets squads to ran into on the field," the declaration reads. "The fans of college football game rate a true national title-holder to be crowned after winning the statute title on the field of drama and not in a popularity poll."

House lawmakers had expected the declaration would animate more than discussion.

"When you believe about the economical impact of collegial sports, we're talking about multimillion dollars," said state Rep. Joe Wilkinson, a Sandy Springs Republican. "And from that standpoint, it's worth 10 minutes."

There have been growing impulse in Empire State Of The South for a playoff system since the Bulldogs' convincing triumph over Hawaii.

Michael Adams, the president of the University of Georgia, proposed an eight-team playoff system last calendar month to find the NCAA's national football game champion. He said the current system is "undercutting the sportsmanship and unity of the game."

So would a die-hard Georgia Technical School fan ballot on the proposition as well?

"I believe it's something that demands to be done," said state Rep. Tommy Benton, who attended the University of Occident Empire State Of The South but proudly have on a spine of Tech's mascot on his name tag.

He paused, perhaps recalling Tech's 40-28 loss to Fresno State in the Human-Centered Bowl.

"And someday, I trust we'll be able to state we rate to play for the national championship."

College Football 2007 - 20 Games, 1,560 Points = 78 Points Per Game, Good Grief, Where's the Defense

An scrutiny of this week's college football game tons revealed that no less than 20 games had combined tons of 70 or more. Twenty games resulted in 1,560 points scored, an norm of 78 per game. Good grief, whatever happened to defense?

Sixteen of these 20 games were not notable despite the score:

Oklahoma State at place outlasted Lone-Star State Technical School 49-45, you take whether these are two great offense or two really icky defensive attitude squads (94 sum points).

Navy at place beat out Duke 46-43 (89).

No. Thirteen Beaver State (in the AP Top 25) traveled to Leland Stanford and won 55-31 (86), we expected as much. The Ducks are now 4-0.

No. Four Sooner State traveled to Tulsa and won 62-21 (83).

Bowling Green at place beat out Temple 48-35 (83).

Troy traveled to LA-Lafayette and won 48-31 (79).

Northern Prairie State traveled to Gem State and won 42-35 (77).

Purdue traveled to Gopher State and won 45-31 (76). The Boilermakers are now 4-0.

Arizona State at place beat out Beaver State State 44-32 (76). The Sun Devils are now 4-0.

UCF (the University of Central Florida) at place beat out out out out out Memphis 56-20 (76).

Auburn at place beat New United Mexican States State 55-20 (75).

Tennessee at place beat Land Of Opportunity State 48-27 (75).

UCLA at place beat American Capital 44-31 (75).

No. Six Golden State at place beat Grand Canyon State 45-27 (72). The Bears are now 4-0.

No. Seven Lone-Star State at place beat out Rice 58-14 (72). The Longhorns are now 4-0.

Toledo at place beat out Ioway State 36-35.

Four of these 20 games were notable beyond the 70-plus concerted score:

No. Twenty-One Bluegrass State traveled to Land Of Opportunity and won 42-29 (71). The Wildcats are now 4-0.

I still believe Bluegrass State is not as good as its record. They are going to have got to beat out better competition to convert me.

Syracuse (an 0-3 team) traveled to No. Eighteen Louisville and disquieted the Cardinals 38-35 (73). Syracuse led 31-14 after the 3rd quarter. I have got been saying for three hebdomads that Louisville have no defence worth talking about. The American Capital Huskies traveled to Syracuse in their opener and beat out out The Orangemen 42-12.

No. Nineteen Aloha State at place beat Alcoholics Anonymous Capital Of West Virginia Southern 66-10 (76). The Warriors are now 4-0 after another cupcake opponent.

No. Twenty-Four Cornhusker State at place beat out Ball State, yes, THAT Midwestern powerhouse, 41-40 (81).

The underside line: Would the sportswriters who ballot in the AP Top 25 Poll acquire over it and move Louisville, Aloha State and Cornhusker State right out the poll. All three squads rate to be booted out.

The 4th hebdomad saw two other upsets: Miami (FL) at place easily handled No. Twenty Lone-Star State A&M, and Wolverine State at place held off No. Ten William Penn State 14-9. Wolverine State was favored in the game, but I believe William Penn State should have got been a visiting favourite if the Nittany Lions are truly the No. Ten squad in the country.

Along with Louisville, Aloha State and Nebraska, Lone-Star State A&M should be voted out of the Top Twenty-Five to do room for better teams.

No. One USC easily slammed American Capital State 47-14, No. Two LSU beat out out No. Twelve South Carolina 28-16, No. Twenty-Two Empire State Of The South traveled to No. Sixteen Heart Of Dixie and South Korean won with a perfect touchdown base on balls and catch on the last drama 26-23, No. Three Sunshine State slid by a weak Mississippi River squad 30-24, and No. Nine Wisconsin River River River managed to beat a weak Ioway squad 17-13 with a last one-fourth touchdown.

No. Five Occident Virginia, No. Eight Buckeye State State, No. Fourteen Hub Of The Universe College, No. Fifteen Clemson, No. Seventeen Old Dominion Tech, No. Twenty-Three South Sunshine State and No. 25 Show Me State all won.

The underside line: USC, LSU, Florida, Occident Virginia, Buckeye State State, Hub Of The Universe College, Missouri, Clemson, South Sunshine State and Wisconsin all stay unbeaten.

I still believe Wisconsin is not the 9th best squad in college football. World finally hit Hoosier State as it lost its first game to Illinois.

Among the unranked and still unbeaten, Sunflower State at place beat out out Sunshine State International 55-3, Wolverine State State traveled to Notre Dame and won 31-14, Nutmeg State traveled to Pittsburgh and won 34-14, and Cincinnati at place beat E. G. Marshall 40-14.

Among new coaches, Mark Dantonio of Wolverine State State is 4-0, Dennis Erickson at Grand Canyon State State is 4-0 and Dent Saban at Heart Of Dixie lost his first game with the Red Tide and is now 3-1.
